Emerging 4/ Passion&Research

MICAM Milano, in addition to being a consolidated event and a showcase for international players, is also an incubator for emerging brands, some already present on the market, others making their début at this fair. In the specific area hosted in Pavilion 1, it has become a tradition to discover new stories, names and a host of innovative offerings, inspired by passion, research and attention to the environment. We conclude our review of twelve emerging designers with three more brands, ranging from women’s footwear to sneakers made with green materials.

SABINIS by Sabina Teruel Martinez
A fascination for all footwear production processes, a kind of ritual learnt as a child from her family, inspired Sabina to create her very own brand in 2022. Models that ooze with femininity, where construction, materials and heel height are selected and designed to ensure extreme comfort, a characteristic arising from the shoe-making know-how and tradition of the Alicante district. Her experience as a footwear designer at successful Spanish companies such as Pikolinos, Mustang, Martinelli and Roberto Verino also played a a part in defining her vision.

SISTTA by Alberto Tassinari and Francisco Batta
Two South American celebrities with professional experience in industrial design, joined forces to create this brand. Mexican-born Francisco mostly developed his career in Mexico, working with the most important footwear companies in North America. The Italo-Mexican designer Alberto worked with major brands in both Italy and Mexico. SISTTA came to life in 2022 thanks to the consolidated experience of its creators in the footwear industry. The Sweven collection (a name from an old English word meaning ‘vision’ or ‘dream’) is a tribute to excellence arising from attention to detail and meticulous workmanship.

SNEARK by Lello Romano
The brand was created in 2023 after three years of research, with the aim of using natural, biodegradable and environmentally sustainable materials to find solutions to product life cycle problems. Around 25 billion pairs of shoes are produced worldwide in a year, 20 billion of which are sneakers, yet only 5% of these are recycled. The rest go to landfill. SNEARK soles are made of a rubber containing enzymes that decomposes 97% after 180 days in particular bacterial conditions; uppers are made of hemp, cork, coconut fibre, cotton and vegetable-tanned leather. This ensures SNEARK shoes return to nature at the end of their life cycle. The collection is made in Italy and produced in Tuscany.
